I believe I've already named the composer responsible for 28 (so presumably 28A though I haven't run that to earth), and have just listened to 28 from the hands of Andreas Staier. Does anyone else want to kill this bit?
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yes, the name did occur in your earlier random list., and it was not Beethoven.

          Franz Xaver Beethoven??

A bit OT, but is there a reason why these two first names seem almost welded together?

They are named after St Francis Xavier, co-founder of the Jesuits.

Well, for anyone who's been sleepless with worry about it, scb's 28 is the number of the variation on Diabelli's 'Schusterfleck' waltz written by F-X Mozart. For a later edition he provided an alternative 28A.

We've been struggling for a quorum here for a good while, so perhaps Pulcie's suggestion of an new 'Alphabet Associations - III' thread should now be stood over to the Christmas season? But it's been fun(?) and certainly informative while it lasted!

I'll certainly go along with that suggestion.
It would indeed be good to get more involvement.

Perhaps too many people are still working?? Tighter lockdown required!

                      For the record:

Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart wrote two variations on the Diabelli waltz theme. One appeared as number 28 in the first edition. Later editions also included the second as number 28a.

Franz Xaver Scharwenka dedicated his first piano concerto to Liszt, who gave a performance of it in Berlin.

Franz Xaver Süssmayr produced a completed version of Mozart's Requiem.

I will be happy to join you in AAIII when that starts up. LMP to have the honour of first go.
