Please let me pass on the lethal cocktail!

My 3 R's ain't reading, writing and 'rithmetic, they're over-imaginative, oscillatory, and not at all like Sanskrit.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

      Not my suggestion.

Three independent, non-human entities, i.e. not composers. Though composers' names could get you bonus points; one of them is much trickier than the others.

Lots of nice R's but nothing else to cheer I'm afraid.

No, not close. To help a little or perhaps a lot, the R's are as it were common.

EDIT Or more precisely, the R is common to all three.

Not much happening here today! Are boarders busy searching music dictionaries, or should I give another hint?

My R-word should be in even the smallest such dictionary

                        Reference? (Petit) Robert? Russian-English? Romanian-English?

In the smallest English music dictionary!

                          (Our sort of music anyway)

'My sort of music ' includes Basie and Bowie as well as Brahms and Britten.
There's a small Grove a mile or so from our house, if that helps.

Or Rollin’ Stones or Sonny Rollins and definitely Linda Ronstadt but also love Ravel and Rachmaninov.
Is there a Rondo or Rhapsody around?

OK, it was a small and no doubt feeble joke, sorry.

To recap, my R-word will be found in any small English dictionary of classical music terms and, come to think of it, in such dictionaries in many, perhaps all, European languages.

Then you need three names of particular R's, one complying with each of my deliberately opaque descriptions: 'over-imaginative', 'oscillatory', and 'not at all like Sanskrit'. Opaque but not cryptic in the crossword sense.

Maybe the easiest is actually the last. Sanskrit is/ was a language. Which particular languages are commonly so described? OK, AFAIK Swahili and Mandarin might be, but we are looking much closer to home!
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
