well you've got them the wrong way round, I'm afraid, Ferney . thats your problem, in a nutshell. Get that right and the holes become immaterial.

Its Beans first , then cheese.

I find it helps to Think of them as a Scherzo and an Andante.

cathedral city is Ok, For a workaday cheddar. The extra mature is not bad at all.

Oh, and the heartless capitalists at Tesco seem to have stopped stocking their Canadian Mature, which was from pure grass fed cattle, mand quite tasty.
I dont like cheese with holes. Terrible for sandwiches.
There are at least a dozen Migros stores on Bodrum Peninsula in whom Walmart were considering investing.

To address the OP, I'm mainly for Red Leicester which I accept is very common and the colour is simply dye.

Can't deal in any form with cheese that wires are sent through, including nasally. I don't get that cheese at all.

But then, how do you play "Beans on Toast Bagatelle"? You're not thinking this through, ts!

Not sure whether to be annoyed or rather proud that 'cheddaring' has been recognised as a process which allows Cheddar to be made anywhere in the world. My Cheddar at least comes from Somerset. Coop has Wookey'Ole Cheddar which is quite acceptable.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                  Ok, let's stop mucking about.

The three best cheeses in the world are as follows:

                  #1 Stilton
                  #2 Gorgonzola
                  #3 Cheddar

Hon. mensh. Jarlsberg (the proper stuff, not from Sainsbury's etc).

I'm pleased about it. It will create more variety and is a poke in the eye for that perfidious practice, protectionism.

My sister said this when she was very young. My dad told her just to eat the cheese and leave the holes. She did just that.

                          The term 'kipper' is banned.

Anyway, Nige & co don't own free-market enterprise.

I suppose it would be OK to open a thread on smoked herrings.

I never had Dairylee until I was about 35. At first I thought it was horrid and never touched it again for about ten years, then decided I like it.

I have many anecdotes like this, on different subjects.
