What's missing in all of the World Music broadcasting currently on r3 is currency.
With all due respect, it is moderately easy to craft a thoughtful homage to the recently deceased, those about to tour (sometimes that's the same thing), or (step forward Max R.) a track from 1925 about unrest at that time - without even drawing the analogy.
Seems that no-one is relaying via music impressions of Tunis, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iran...AK used to do this in the past but no-one now seems to be carrying the baton.
I'm interested to know how conditions in any of those places are affecting their musically-driven people.
Maybe I'll have a look around for some internet radio stations...unless anyone knows of any such programmes upcoming on r3?
