The volume and quality seems quite low generally - shame, all that effort and then the broadcasting bit is flakey. I blame the government.

'the certificate on the wall of the jer' - it's probably what to do in case of a fire. Ahh no, it's the UNESCO site certification. Good stuff.
Wonder why it's called a Long Song? could the clue be in the name?

.....They say that Lucy is most at home with Latin music but this works really well. More political, this week, isn't it? Less whimsical but equally spiritual. I'm not going to try yet to discover the names of these tremendous musicians.

You will recall though that Ulambayer Khurgibaatar plays donbar in Khusagtun while Chuluunbaatar Oyungerel is one of the leading voices and horse head fiddle players. Many of their names seem to have "Baatar" in them.

......Long names, Global, long songs. I love the throat singers. The ones called Ray are best.

Beat boxing overtone - sounds like chess boxing as a concept.

Well said Lat - that sentence about the donbar is one of my favourites ever posted by anyone on this new forum. Wonder if it's like the suffix 'dottir' in Iceland. Which means 'daughter' and is used to indicate parentage. Or it was. So Ms Latdottir would be daughter of Lat.

Ahh, the beatbox boy, Ray (his real name is Sunshine) is on now - tre-mendous.

Best tall building of the year - when I start a band that'll be the name.

Oh yes, dottir, great point. This is Dubai and classic Andy. Hilarious. I'd love to have a transcript. By the way, don't you think the Ulunbataar Hilton looks like the Womad flags? -

I don't think Andy entirely approves.

Jumeirah Lakes Towers the 12th floor - yes AK really had to slum it here, and you can tell that he wasn't that keen. Adel Farooq is on Spot.

John - Glad you could make it. Greed, ego, preposterous - he's not keen.

Those towers look a bit too sporty for Andy's liking - the old laugh is in good form.

....This is very poppy. I think of Boris Grebenshikov during Glasnost. Liked what he stood for, trailblazing etc, but musically less sure.

By the way, did Lucy say that Le Group Bali in the Gobi was all women?
