But if you want great echo this producer in his heyday took some beating.

Crazy Joe Meek. A sort of lo-fi big sound, most notable for its "aliens from outer space" vibe via unfitted carpet and bathroom. I have a compilation. A friend at work's brother was (is?) secretary of the Joe Meek Society apparently. I've never met him.

Hancock's Sunday was posted earlier. I always see a parallel between his citizen band radio edition and Meek with all the wires and contraptions round his flat. It all, of course, ended very sadly. There are certain parallels with Phil too and Ed Wood also springs to mind, not that I have seen the film. To be done fully, Cerys would need to have a large slice of dub (plate?) but that shouldn't be a problem. Her shows go wider than the blues-orientated remit the credits now say it has, even if that isn't a bad thing in itself.

Cerys has Ahmad Jamal in the studio with her this morning.
Ahmad Jamal joins Cerys to talk about everything from the piano to Pittsburgh.

Double dunt of Cerys on 6 this weekend - she's stand-in this morning and has Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hammer in talking about the 'Child Ballads' that Francis J Child, the American folklorist and Harvard professor collected ...tomorrow in her regular slot Cerys has a keyboard special.

Cerys is having a guitar special this morning over on 6. It's pre-69 so we've already had Charlie and Lonnie and the magnificent Minnie - excellent Sunday morning fare.

Agreed, an excellent programme. Don't usually listen to this programme, as usually busy Sunday morning, but partying last night, so didn't get up til late.

BTW, did enjoy MAK on World Routes Friday.

Cerys has Dervish in session with her this morning, and she's also doing a second part of her guitar special - Dave Rawlins on right now - quality.

Cerys was having one of her specials today - unusual songs, unusual recordings - Moondog, Donald Byrd, Spector, Thackery among lots of others - very enjoyable. She was also punting the 6 Music Prom tomorrow evening with Tom Service and Anna Meredith - Stranglers and Laura Marling.

Cerys has been playing this crackin' track by Tamikrest for a few weeks ( Mark Coles has been playing it too ) - really looking forward to it coming out.

Well, she's got her own prom tonight...

                    and, officially
Cerys Matthews, Laura Marling and The Stranglers join London Sinfonietta for an eclectic Late Night Prom including 20th-century classics by Berio, Varèse and Xenakis, plus a live remix mash-up by composer Anna Meredith.

                    there will be no interval...

Well they don't want them 6 music types hangin' around the Albert Hall giving the place some kinda reputation - look how long it took them to get over Deep Purple.
I wonder what this one tonight will be like.
David Atherton conducts the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in Holst’s tone-poem Indra, the world premiere of Nishat Khan’s new Sitar Concerto No. 1 and Vaughan Williams’s bittersweet portrait of the capital’s parks and pavements, A London Symphony.

Tamikrest are on with Cerys this morning - did I hear it said that they had been on Andrew Marr this morning?

Cerys had Robert Plant in for a cup of tea on Sunday morning and a fine guest he was - he played some Vernon Garrett and some Charlie Rich and some Tinariwen among others. 6 are shifting their weekend timetables round again - I always think they're trying to fill the hole on a Saturday morning left when Adam and Joe called it quits. Anyway result is Cerys is getting an extra hour for her Sunday show which is no bad thing in my books.

                              John,

Does that Vernon Garrett remind you of Buster Benton ?

                                Here's a Buster I lent the BBC earlier ( mid 90's ! )

                                I got it back.
