...........Incidentally, Global, don't think I failed to observe Alasdair Fraser slipping out quietly just as Oumou came back in. No one gets away from this venue without it being noticed and then noted down for future reference.
Anyhow, that Special EFX number is excellent.
I have just added Takashi Hirayasu and Bob Brozman's 'Jin Jin'; Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali's 'Dil Wali Cal Karni'; Teddy Afro's '400 Fikir' and Sipho Gumede's 'Hammersdale'. No YT for these four so those without Spotify can use their imagination(s?).Last edited by Guest; 20-11-12, 20:32.

"Ain't no stoppin'"? I have spent this morning in Morrisons creating a sound in my head of McFadden and Whitehead doing 'Pound a Week Rise'. It was a great way of not becoming too involved with the items in other peoples' baskets. All it needs now is for someone to invent a machine that can record it onto flexi-disc.
Is Leeds a part of the world? I assume "yes" so that this favourite can be included* -
Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra - African Kings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A87xNUo2uFw
There should also be a version of a part of this one -
Beny More - Barbarabatiri Mambo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec_STIgOmWY
Is Stepney a part of the world? Perhaps we can risk this one -
Jah Wobble - Horse Mountain Song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcXIzA-KD3w
This selection will end appropriately enough with a biguine -

I can't find the YT clips for these so here are "Lotfai Talang" and "Reine de Musette":

...............Global - I am little puzzled as you seem rather quiet. Has something gone awry with the list?
A clever inclusion of Tinariwen's collaborators, I thought, but we have the track by Nasser Shamma twice. Can I remove one?
I do hope you will be adding more.
John - I liked the water music. Great stuff!

A prize to Doug Schulkind if he plays it next week.
In the meantime, I have added something similar to our list - "Shinawi" by the Korean Folk Music Ensemble. It is difficult to say precisely when this extraordinary music originated but the CD is called "Four Thousand Years". Surely it can't be, can it?
I haven't fully taken yet to Vieux Farka Toure. I do accept though that he has silenced his critics with "The Secret". Justifiably described as the Hendrix of the Desert, he collaborated on "Aigna" with Derek Trucks. Trucks is a terrific musician in his own right. I have added it, happily, to our list. Here is the relevant clip along with another of the Tedeschi Trucks Band which I have posted before. In my humble opinion, it is nothing less than one of the best soul tinged songs from the United States in the past decade.

And so we bring this most fascinating playlist to a close. I shall be sharing it appropriately, not just with my cousin but with the world via the sharemyplaylist website. Based on previous performance that means it will get at least 3 listens.
Wonder what we'll think of next?? Perhaps the 3-headed devil knows the answer...

The chimera, other than for those who once played a lot of the card game "pairs", is how it ended up at 199.
