I know - the history of the Shakuhachi is fascinating, in the old days the players were sometimes used as spies. And someone did spot it was Mike - it was a very individual basket...

Sigolene - "Lutefisk is not food, it is a weapon of mass destruction". (Interview with Jeffrey Steingarten, author of The Man Who Ate Everything (translated quote from a 1999 article in Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet).

I rather like it. With Global's agreement, we'll keep it in.

Do you know it sounds a bit like bacalhau, a Portugese equivalent which is also truly vile. Except I think this is just salted not treated with lye

[not in the least bothered by the absence of Norwegian or Japanese Fish delicacies]

[oh yeah and i confess to finding the Salad Nicoise at the Grand Cafe on Geary St just out of this world, like much else in that beautiful city]

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

                          Calum,

"Walking into the Grand Cafe raises the spirits. Inside a person feels like a first-class citizen in a world-class city."

                          That's the ticket !

( Cafe Tortoni was a bit like that ... )

The word floats more tantalizing upon the tongue then said lutefisk.

Any one for tea, now ? I see and hear the tea trolley being prepared. Shall I send it through the ether via Dr Who's phone box or do you prefer Zaphod Beeblebrox serving your tea ?

                                sigolene,

I find with dogs it's more often the owners who are barking
