    (lack of) moderation

You may or may not have spotted this

But Lat & me have put ourselves up for moderators of this sub-forum.

I haven't talked to Lat about it yet, but the following rules should apply in my opinion:

1 no use of the letter 'Q' (lower or upper case) on alternate Thursdays in months of more than 4 letters.
2 Any use of the word 'eclectic' will lead to posts being deleted. Words similar are also prohibited, including 'electric', 'elastic' and 'ecclesiastic'
3 The only soup recipes allowed must include either smoked or par-boiled fish (freshwater or sea but obviously sustainable)
4 Every 10th post must mourn the loss to the world of broadcasting of any of the following:
    a) Andy Kershaw
    b) Mixing It
    c) r3's musical output that limits World Music to a paltry few hours

    er, that's it.

    Global!

Will we be allowed "emetic" though?

I can envisage occasions when it might be useful...

This is such obvious common sense that anyone refusing to adhere should be dismissed immediately. Apart from the soup. As this is 5th Jan, and the original list on wikipedia has been changed, I'm on the cazuela. Place the chicken, squash, potatoes, corn, carrots and broth in a large soup kettle or Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 25 minutes or until chicken is done and vegetables are tender. Serve over rice in a shallow soup bowl with hot pepper sauce, salt, pepper and cilantro or parsley.

        Is that creamed rice, Lat?

            Global,
Could I request one small alteration ? Could the banning of scallops as an ingredient be included in Rule 3 ?
AFAIK it's my only allergy. Oh and maybe 4c could be phrased to read - paltry few " very late " hours ?

            Simon,

When could you possibly envisage using such a word in this virtual eiderdown of a place ?

Paul, That is because it only grows in this country at St Just-in-Penwith, Lat.

So many questions, so little time.

1 'emetic' - as long as it is not used in conjunction with soup recipes.
2 the scallop discussion. Are we referring to shellfish or potato-based images (known as scollops in some parts). This is important. No-one can be allergic to scollops. Or scratchings come to that.
3 Paul - Here is your cilantro - actually that one is a bit off, try this one instead

(lat - I think it's going quite well, think we've got away with it?)

Yes, almost. Is it now that you want me to mention the compulsory contributions to "100 songs about scollops and cilantro"?

                      Global,
                      The shellfish.
That Spanish, hand-made cilantro job sounds meaty on first acquaintance.

                        glad it's not fishy.

Do we need a rule about the use of herbal substances do you think?

Bang goes most of the dub tracks if we do...could play havoc with lat's soups too.

But the most amazing event of the day is that i have had a PM from another forum member who, it seems, knows the person who was featuring as my avatar. For the sake of convenience we'll call him Mike.

more to follow (whether you are interested or not, this is, you must admit, fairly astonishing).

It's ok. All my soups are prepared purely for medicinal purposes. My clients range from those who have a chronic inability to relax at parties in Goa to those who have never even been able to fly there without using an aeroplane.
