What I'm a wonderin' is how when I went off to the moon with Eileen Rose following that Rose of Monterey and looked back at mother earth
a whole batch of phantom tunes had turned up.
Space debris ?
But by 'eck there are more fine items on that list than you'll hear from two or three of our national public stations in a lunar year.

It's good to share stuff...
try going here
and typing in words like
' world music'
and you'll be directed to wonderful WM from the likes of Black Sabbath (huh?), Black Uhuru , Classical Egyptian Music (interesting), Charlie G's last CD (:cool2:). You can download mp3 files that will time expire for free or listen. Unless you're doing this on a Mac - just doesn't work.

The return to the studio...
Catching up on iplayer, Tuesday's show once again suffered from the slack editing syndrome - 10 mins at the start on the healing powers of opera, all well and good but not what I'd planned to listen to. Ameliorated by some John Lee Hooker who rarely gets enough airplay or credit (and should feature in discussions on the other thread about Van M).
Tinariwen are evolving, morphing...currently a soft rock sound, so jury is out till I have heard more, but how interesting to listen to the changes Western culture continues to make to their desert sound. 'interesting'...change is inevitable.
The ambient electro lullaby was of its time (I made a mental note to maybe point Max at the Berceuse musicbox stuff if he doesn't know it already).
I loved the violin pieces - this is when the 'crazy' mix of LJ works so well - one track softens you up for the next, the aural contrast setting has to be subtlely done and Max often gets it right.

Prognotfrog didn't appear for me. Pity because it sounded interesting. On slack editing, I noticed that the interview with Abigail Washburn at Charlton Park had at least a couple of minutes of duplication. Problems with splicing on the spools I guess.

Should be an improvement. Having said as much, I recall AK saying that he thought VFT was overrated, not that I would necessarily agree with him on that point.

I think he may be evolving and developing into a powerful musician...after a/some period(s) of experimentation he has returned with what is surely a masterly album.
He also appears on this album on spot which is, er, well, what is it? a travesty? fun?
The Covers album
I'm torn between recommending that you start with Ramesh B Weeratunga if you're going to start anywhere.
or just go straight to the same on YouTube for 3mins 23 secs where Zorro meets Tonto on the beach; no curry gags please.
or should it be
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Hmm only about half of it is worth listening too...shame, good idea. but I think we've covered it better on Spotify somewhere in the past...Last edited by Globaltruth; 07-09-11, 14:21.

Well after an evening in St Ives with Martin Simpson & Band where light and shade was rather lacking it has come
as quite a relief to sit down with a drink and listen to Lateish Night Radio 3 !
