I've just realised that exchanging tweets with the Maxmeister is exactly what we were meant to do when the old MB's were closed down - so I'll stop....he's a good fella though, and I wish his work with Oily Cart (http://www.oilycart.org.uk/ was more widely recognised & publicised helping them to receive even more funding.

anyway back to the music - you may remember Gavin Bryars Sinking of the Titanic, which the odd LJ DJ used to while away 90 mins or so every now and again. Well here's a Bobvan tribute - the Shrinking of the Gigantic, just in case anyone is remotely interested (JC that is usually you - much appreciated!)

Probably painted myself into a little LJ corner...

I liked that oily cart and I liked that Bobvan too though I kept having to run to the loo in the middle. On the subject of Gav, after you pointed me in the direction of the Titanic in the early days of spotty I sent a link to the 12" version to one of my pals. He replied saying that he was relieved that someone else found it fascinating. He works in TV and a few years back had tried to persuade a director that the old tramp's hymn would be ideal soundtrack to this TV play they were working on - he said they all looked at him like he was crazy - so no joy there. I'm listening to Water Dragon now - just heard a very interesting bit that sounds like a version of those Baka water drums - ideal musical accompaniment.
....and when you finish painting the LJ corner G, could you nip round and emulsion my back hall?

Given the Killing Fields that await me some mornings in the back hall it would have to be the latter - though if you have 'Mutilated Bunny' or 'Tormented mole' that would probably blend in superbly.

Hi Paul - Thank you for the tip. I will listen to it. As a matter of fact, it is my aim to start getting tuned in more to the music on R3 - and actually, dare I say it, radio generally. I have been concentrating on "The Verb" and tend to listen to GQT on 4. Of course, I do Spotify but I've been a bit distracted.

I've been doing quite a lot of work related stuff - applications, quite dismal at times, it actually provides a not always welcome update on how life out there is generally "organised" now, there's a kind of professional language that they all use which is sort of corporate Californian, on further investigation a lot of the substance is at best half-baked. I have a cv writing class this afternoon!

Gardening - I'm enjoying that more and I get very (too) embroiled in the politics. It actually gets me down after a while but seems partially a way of getting 2010 out of my system which I still need somehow. The other thing, I think, is that I really did enjoy the Music Planet programmes and they helped to provide some focus. Anyway, what this means is that I need to listen again to some more music radio, which was always generally automatic, and hope to do so in the coming weeks. - Lat.
