Quote - "Just had a tweet from Max after a virtual cyber-nudge".

.....Pardon? Proof if ever there was that I've entirely lost touch with the world.

        Well, I suggested this segue:

As both of the above have recently left the planet...

He's confirmed we'll get the latter...er, that's all I know on this topic.

But happy to suggest a few Max-like tracks he might play.

        For example
        The Ramayana Monkey Chant

...about time to plug ubuweb again - any free site that has the following as its Top Ten

        1. Ketjak: The Ramayana Monkey Chant
        2. Orson Welles - The One Man Band (1995)
        3. Sun Ra: The Berkeley Lectures, 1971
        4. Tuvan Throat Singing
        5. John Berger: Ways Of Seeing
        6. Samuel Beckett: Film
        7. Charlemagne Palestine - Four Manifestations on Six Elements (1974)
        8. Delia Derbyshire: Dreams
        9. The Ancient Order Flyers
        10. Eliane Radigue: Kyema, Intermediate States (1992)

has got to be worth a plug now and again...
        ubuweb still free, still there.

erm, does that answer your Q, Paul?

          Thanks Global !
And in another life I used that very (perfect) Margaret Whiting song in a segue I can't instantly recall !
I think JC has a copy of it on a Wottever Next ! compilation.
          I didn't know she'd just left us - I'd assumed she'd gone a while back.
          Never assume ...

              Thanks John
And in an ego boostin' moment I thought I'd try and locate that one I'd done earlier by entering my
name with Ms Whiting on the goggle box.
Three down it came up with this !

Uniquely for me - an all US playlist. Well there's a bit of a clue in the date ...

...and Radio Caroline is still going - did the waters get too choppy for you Paul?

Choppy in the sense of deranged ?
                  Yes

The way the grown-men's hobby station was ( is ? ) run required a dung-fly-on-the-wall documentary crew
to attempt to record the beyond-bizarre activities !

You really couldn't make it up. I only knocked out programmes for them out of curiosity to be honest.
But I never realised just how curious it would be It was and probably still is a hobby station run
by enthusiasts who basically seemed to want it frozen in that brief period of time when pirates ruled the airwaves.

Most of the few listeners that there were certainly did not care for the stuff I was playing - a very similar reaction to that of
some Radio 3 listeners who felt 'their' station was being soiled by the inclusion of ' jazz and world pop ' ( the loves ... )

You have to admire the plucky Caroline fans and its 'owner' though for keeping the place going at all.

I just find it amazing that they can still keep the needle on the record - I assume it was heavily weighted down with a couple of two-pence pieces (or do they still stick with ha'pennies for old time's sake?)

John, if I had to put money on it, I'd say ha'pennies
Now going back to the BBC I wonder if anyone there can get hold of a copy of Fadumo Qasim ( Faadumo Qaasim ) singing ' Dalkeygow ' ?
I reckon the nation has waited long enough !

I listened till just after midnight at which point Schumann sent me off to dreamsville. Plenty to enjoy, though the penguins had me sitting on edge, strangely feeling much the same as I did when listening to the throat singers from the Arctic on WP last week - perhaps I'm coming down with something.

Accompanied the ironing with the post Schuman LJ - Mirror Man got me bouncing through the shirts - also went back and had another listen to the Anette Wallin track which was just terrific - sounded really Scottish I thought. Great to have Max back around.

Only came in during Mirror Man as we'd been watching ' Caché ' with that Juliette Brioche Thought I was doing fine until I suddenly realised that I was listening to TTN !
