would have been easier, or as easy, to download radio programmes. Reason I know? I tried to download one of MaxMeisters

    I'm sure there's a testy tech thread over on Plat 3 ....
Eddie Mair was complaining about this to the i-playermaster on PM yesterday, G. It was amusing but came down to issues of: 1. Radio is often live; 2. Music publishing issues 3. Can't remember what 3 was cos the lights turned green. i-man did admit that he was just making excuses and they'd get round to it one of these days.

      thanks JC.

Me and Eddie Mair often think as one.
to be fair to the iPlayer team they have published an answer to this which largely says that:

I just hope old OP/MR is chuffed that I want to download his programme...

He's probably tweeting about it at this very moment and will play you a tune tonight - wonder if he'll play a bit from Harry Smith. By the way I loved Madame Bolduc last night - hadn't heard of her before. Brill!

            He was and he will.

I'm now wondering why they don't do the odd podcast of LJ's (& Wo3's come to it) when they are live? World Music predictably neglected by the r3 podcast posse... I shall drop the new boss a quick note in my very finest red ink.

That would seem to circumvent the copyright thing...and give the shows a wider audience.

Just a reminder, tonight, after a pause for music collecting, the Maxmeister returns...
Max Reinhardt with music from Korea, a Geese remix, Chapelier Fou and Astral Adjustments.

The normal small prize for whosoever can spot the connection between this picture & Max's show tonight

I don't know how Max manages it - he's on Beeb 4 too at 11 in that rather excellent Klezmer programme that they ran a couple of weeks back - maybe it's Max and not Lucy who's the Time Lord.

In a vain attempt to quell the frenzy of excitement this has caused, here is the answer:

The picture was of Grimaldi in his clown outfit. One of Grimaldi's most famous characters was when he played Mother Goose in panto.
About 16 minutes into last night's show, Max played the Geese Remix of Rude Audio's
                      Wise Blood...easy non?

Been doin' a bit catch-up on Max' LJs and had a spot of Deja vu when Max played Coltraine's Ascension pt2 - I recalled pt1 from during the summer and once again, on LA, I had the house to myself and could experience the anarchy of it all - truly unsettling and especially after the calm beautiful comfort of Crow Road Croft by Calum Stewart and Lauren MacColl. Had to have a lie down after it all.

Yes, OP has been up to his usual high standard - erudition meets flights of fancy ; I mean Hot Chip vs ancient dub vs Buxtehude. Then there's the Korean music he's collected - invariably fascinating.
My only criticism is that he tends to go from upbeat to downbeat back to upbeat then, you guessed it...I think he should play around with his seguing a bit more. Not much of a criticism, more of an observation..

Oh yes, thanks, JC. John Cage, Artie Shaw and the Bulgarians. Good stuff!

(Sufjan Stevens has now issued 10 volumes of Christmas songs but how is he doing on that project of one CD for each state?)
