After 18 minutes of Coltraine's Ascension Part 1, Paul, I wasn't sure I was going to manage to sleep - that is one affecting piece. But then the Sons of Hawaii sailed me gently back. I like Live Max.

So far I managed to listen to 13 mins of one show....various pre occupations and work combining to reduce my listening pleasure, not least of those preoccupations being a giant papier mâché pig.And 13 piglets.
Anyway I heard Max having a footer chat with the continuity guy then some lovely Toumani Diabate. Tough times in old Mali - I wonder how the Diabate's are doing?

Likewise Syria and Max played a really splendiferous piece by a Syrian group last eve - playlists not up yet so I can tell you little more, except I think it was around a half-hour in!

Pretty sure that it's Hewer that's the Syrian Group, 20 minutes in.

Well Max fulfilled the sum total of my musical needs this week.

Even Gill Scott Heron with his rant. Hoped he felt better after it.

Oh dear! Was going to suggest a visit to his local GP might be appropriate.

No, that wouldn't have made much difference.

It was Otis Taylor's Yellow Dog with his yellow car that was floating my boat last night - on the H2O needless to say.

By the way, I've found that Listening Again to the live shows works pretty well too...and it's a while since I've done that.
Refreshed, renewed, revigorated, facing the day anew...so many batchains to pull, so little time.

O, obviously need to finish the post in the same way OP finished the show...

(Erm I'm a tad worried about those sandals with that outfit...)
such a very, very good looking thread this, i just had to post this one from global truth again ....although i've 'ardly seen many posts since the jubilee.

it's so easy to become out of sync with other 'world music' mbers.... due to listen again iplayer problems, listening to the whole week in one afternoon, and of course giant papier mâché pig, and 13 piglets. a shed load of work there.

                            whitey's on the moon,

We've engineered a quiet few hours & I'm determinedly catching up with Maxster via back-to-back LJ's.

Overall an embarrassment of riches, a wealth of variety...Just one criticism : more airship harmonicas please :-)

Good news about live from the Ed Fringe - wish I was going now.
