Could be tricky for Dr Lucy though....
Well we know that OR could handle it fine, Global. I know that some contributors on other strings complain about the 'your R3' approach with its endless audience participation - Sara asks 'what cereal would the composers have for brekkie?' - I think Shostakovich was Coco Pops and Bach was All-brandenburg.....but I liked just that glimpse of live that Max offered - a wee tweet here and a wee text there - actually there was one guy who wrote in to say he'd been inspired to dance with his wife round the kitchen - had never thought that of the LJ audience - see who we're sharing with out there in radioland - apart from WOMAD we never really hear Wo3/LJ go out live. Perhaps we might give Dr Duran a late slip, mind you.

I really loved those crackling digitised 78s that Max played from the Exeter Jazz and Blues club this week, by the way.

I notice that Max is playing Luca Santana tonight - I hope it's better than the one Cerys played on Sunday which was dullsville with a capital z - though I was still recovering from Bryan Ferry singing 'you are my sunshine' - never knew anyone, not even B Ferry, could make such an a**e of such a fine song.

Please note that any future juxtaposition, or even mention, of the words 'B Ferry' and 'singing' will result in referral of said post to the Great Moderator herself.

By the way I'm pretty sure Max is a whole lot happier doing live shows..

Thanks for the warning which I will gladly comply with, Global.

It was strangely pleasing to hear Max indulge in a spot of handover with continuity - not quite Peel/ Kershaw but comforting to know he's really there. I'm beginning to think he's throwing in a wee blip or two into the show as a bit of a trademark, like Oliver Mtukudzi's cough. The track Hiss Golden Messenger - Pittsboro Farewell (Two Monarchs was fantastic, I thought and I loved the Abdullah Ibrahim piece - Bjork doesn't really do it for me however - and he got a tweet from Simon le Bon.

First Ferry, now S l B - you really are pushing it JC.

In fact I was listening live too, tweeted the Maxster and got a reply while he was doing the prog.
Astonishing. Where's that old superfan PS when you need him?

Anyway I simply felt the need to share that with you (and there was a spelling mistake in S l B's tweet which added a strange dimension to it. thankfully. amusingly)

The 80's are now definitely over on this thread.

I like this one from the great Zimbabwean, hsf, though the trad cough ain't there. I'll get searching for one where he gives his throat a right good clear mid-song, and get back to you.

Obviously I love the way the Cap'n gets played at the drop of a hat.

                    Your hat.

And everyone does say Yeah Yeah - Fela on that classical music station. How he'd laugh.

Now, other answers - HF will I'm sure explain his position on the planet.
From the subforum PoV a most welcome addition, given to pointed rants, purveyor of the mystic semi-colon.

Paul Sherratt has, AFAIK, defected to the r6.
I've sent him a DM in the tweetosphere - he may return; he may not.
Not quite sure if Gideon Coe/Giles Peterson/Mark Radcliffe will give him a day off.
He has much to do there.
                    Missed from time to time

Those blips - well, it's hardly car-crash radio is it? And if it was, it would be more

By the way, I've found that Listening Again to the live shows works pretty well too...and it's a while since I've done that.
Refreshed, renewed, revigorated, facing the day anew...so many batchains to pull, so little time.

O, obviously need to finish the post in the same way OP finished the show...

(Erm I'm a tad worried about those sandals with that outfit...)

That's Al pictured during a break in procedures at the 1935 Liberal conference in Bournemouth, so relatively speaking, a perfectly acceptable attire combination, G.

R6, Global Von Kleegster ? Gosh no. I've simply defected to bed. 5.30 starts with pup Roxy and a seasonal disorder of work simply don't assist very late night radio.
However stimulating. Trying listerine again though with our Night Kitchen Chef.
