Well I'm still waiting for someone to play the other fine Felix Mendelssohn, featured below :
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Here in a special medley for loyal listener John
FM is a distant relation of FM, btw.
By the way Mela Mela, followed by Voice Squad, followed by the other Felix is a late runner for segue of the year....well done Maxy boy!!!

Very enjoyable noise indeed.
Now I wonder which Yusef Lateef albums Mr Max has on his heaving shelves ?
The recently late great needs to be heard outside of the jazz shows.

Now the good thing about the Boxing Day Maxster was that after 30'ish mins of the good stuff, it was possible just to stop listening as the rest of the show was devoted to the self-indulgent burblings, scrapings of another rather dreadful & unlistenable 'session'. Not for me...
Shame I had to miss traditional the Angolan track at the end, but it was a sacrifice worth making.
And the Luscombe returns next week, on previous form should be scaling new heights of unlistenableness...Bah.

At the tail end of last night's programme Max read an e from a correspondent wishing for the return of Luscombe - not me - last night's was a triumph - Birelli's Waltz excellent, Lal Waterson (no comment required), Nonhlanhla Kheswa and Her Martians (top notch Southern African Jazz); and there was Yusef Lateef and also the Swan Silvertones - nah, think I'll stick with Max...and on Wednesday he played a lovely version of Moon River sung by one of me and Miss C's favourite of a few years back, Piney Gir (minus her Country Roadshow) - nice to hear she's still around - and what a Blind Willie J!!!! Thanks Max!

Lotte Lenya - The Seven Deadly Sins (Kurt Weill). 1956/57. Surabaya Johnny. Go to Praguedive Playlists to see the entire thing (21 parts).
the Lotte Lenya/Rosa Krebb/James Bond/knife in the shoe fact deserved an airing.
Max & Neil show last night - as we've said elsewhere, bringing fresh young blood in is A Good Thing. A nice leap last night, from Lotte Lenya to Philip Glass, & i'm spotting a fondness for the works of Arthur Russell. Put that one on the Max shelf next to the predilection for the Good Cap'n. That'll do nicely.

By the time I caught up that I'd missed Max on LJ last week I only had one still available on I-player. Nonetheless it included, among other fine contributions, this rather excellent track by Mariam the Believer which he played from a very fine live performance at Latitude.

Still struggling to catch up with LJ and caught last Tuesday's show from Edinburgh - most enjoyable bunch of live guests from across the globe. Max was having Mike probs - seems they could only run to a couple. Very good Scottish duo, and some funny Glaswegian hiphop, and Martin Carthy; but most of all I enjoyed Jordi Savall and Hyperion X. Good stuff.
