Help me make it through the snow

Crawling through the tundra wastelands of Eastern Perthshire this morning, an old favourite came on desert island discs and transported me to a beach on the west coast - nearly missed the lights at the bridge over the Ericht.

It was the Nick Clegg edition that I couldn't stand. I felt genuinely depressed to discover that there were some similarities in our musical tastes.

A Bobby Bland song regularly springs to my mind nowadays prompted by our politicians* and other types who have need of the public's eye

Same song, but sung here by the wonderful Ann Peebles. ( Andy no relation ? )
Ann Peebles - I Pity The Fool, from the album Straight From The Heart (1972)

                * I always used to think we got the politicians we deserved. But this lib lot have changed that naive idea

Perhaps from Peebles, Paul - wonderful song that - and that Willie Mitchell sound is so great. This is a bit older - I assume the same W Mitchell - v funky.

Lovely Cerys was having a Mexican flavour for this chilli morning and this tune made me feel a touch warmer for shovelling the white stuff.

-15C and I didn't feel like a full member this morning; but this came on a wee compilation crawling through the frozen berryfields and transported me for a short time to warmer days.

Smashing. With the best will in the world, many of the singer-songwriters emerging from the last decade have not been particularly strong. But when I listen to Fionn Regan and Declan O'Rourke, I feel more optimistic. Add to those Glen Hansard who has been around a little longer.

We're stuck at -10 (better than -11 yesterday) but the prospect of a return to +numbers on Thursday is being dangled by the Met Office.

The shoe chains arrived this morning - excellent. shoe chains

The best suggestion Spotify could make to assist was this
C J Chenier - no chains Which I think will also help you make it through the snow. But don't try dancing with those chains on...

Thanks for the suggestion G - they'd look grand with my tartan slingback wellies. However I am left wondering whether I should take Carlton's advice on this.

I am asking my daughter in a moment for her iPod and will load this on, a mini surprise for her with Fionn Regan.
