    Sad news indeed.
    I saw him once in Lichfield Cathedral and we still talk about that performance to this day.

    The duduk is a simple folk instrument carved out of apricot wood; Djivan produced such an emotionally moving sound and tone from it.

    A mark of the international esteem he was held in is the fact that, in 2008 as a result of his performances, Armenia's Duduk and its music was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
