    Nick Page

I read an obituary for Nick Page in Songlines - he died last month. I have to say that I didn't know who he was but reading the piece I realised he was pivotal in some fine projects that I have listened to over the years including Transglobal Underground and Dub Colossus. Here's the obituary by Robin Denselow.
Guitarist, composer and producer nicknamed Count Dubulah who was a co-founder of Transglobal Underground

John, thanks for that. As I read I wondered how you of all people on this forum had not heard of the late musician; yet it did not surprise me that you were familiar with some of his best work. I am sure you will probably go searching for more confirmation and perhaps post some examples in World Music in due course.

I had never heard of Nick Page either, and I was impressed by the tributes to his dedication in his chosen field. For that reason I am glad you posted and that I read it, though unlike you, I won't be following up with further interest. I was just thinking that here is a topic that might have appealed to someone like Thomas Hardy : the sudden chance awareness of a life that has passed you by, a life with all of its own exclusive drama and dreams. Maybe a casual moral would be to realise that there is an infinity of unacknowledged achievement in the world, which could pull one's self perception up short.
