The quiet Beatle who went to Spectorsavers

    Radio 4 - Sat 21 Nov
8pm - Archive on 4: All Things Must Pass: 50 Years On

British-Indian composer Nitin Sawhney marks the 50th anniversary of George Harrison's triple LP - a massive success that yielded the first solo Beatle number one, My Sweet Lord. Co-produced by Harrison and Phil Spector, the autumnal work consolidated Harrison's interest in both Eastern spirituality and Indian instrumentation, but with pop, rock and folk elements. Contributors include Harrison's widow Olivia, keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, drummer Alan White and guitarist Dave Mason. Plus biographers Graeme Thomson and Joshua M Greene, and Jools Holland and Michael Palin.

Composer Nitin Sawhney tells the story of George Harrison’s most famous album.

Thanks S_A. I'm not always Nitin's biggest fan but thought he did a crackin' job of pulling this together. A record well worth celebrating, in my opinion. Some wonderful songs in there...'Isn't It a Pity' remains one of my favourite all time songs...I'll be delving back into it this week.
