Now how come I am delighted when young Bella Hardy pops up anywhere? Seems to be a fave of V's at the mome - which is a Good Thing?

We enjoyed Bella's performance in the Folk Prom a couple of years ago. Verity was in the Arena along with a jeans-wearing Roger Wright.

Verity's had a face transplant it seems.
Verity Sharp presents music by Max de Wardener, Hildegard of Bingen and Beethoven.

          omg - you're right!

i hope verity doesn't have to use fiona's wonky chair too ......(put up with the vintage semi dereliction look and no audio controls).

it could have been worse jc....verity might have 'been' max, rather than fiona!

mm mmmm mmm m m meridith monk on now, from last night's 'late luncheon'.

what a feast, great fusion within: Chris Wood / Eliza Carthy / Martin Carthy / Trans Global Underground Trad. arr. Imagined Village: Cold Haily Rainy Night motto: never look out of a creaking window in the rain?

good to hear canzoniere grecanico salentino on last week's lj. i've discovered it's best listened to with a glass of wine also from puglia (in the heel) of italia too! good 'warm up' glass to the salentino chaps, with that 18th c tarentella beforehand....(if anyone else remembers) last tuesday's lj prog....(which i thought absolutely terrific). hic

Now that session worked - I wouldn't go & see them but would happily listen to more on the radio. When we saw Imagined Village with Sheema M playing there were 2 teenage lads in front of us who spent the whole time watching her every move & applauding her spirited breaks as if it were a solo concert - their obvious enjoyment enhanced ours.

The reworking of Blind Willie being the sole duff spot...drove me to R L Burnside later on.

Good to hear Verity back in town on the LJ train, though she seems to think that the 11pm shift is still way past her beddy-byes.

Anyway she did play Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou which was just wonderful.

I was down by the sea at a conference yesterday - and wild were the waves - last night they provided the backing as I headed off to sleep accompanied by Late Junction and the beautiful 'Dear Irish Boy' by Kevin Crawford - worth listening out for. 'Nightrail from the sun' is another I'll be having another listen to this week.

I didn't hear to the end of the show last night - but I've had a listen to the end on i-player - very sad to hear it. She says it's going to be just FT and Max from here on in. She brought such a different slant to LJ.

gulp - her announcement was last tune before the end....and for good.

Yep, she's off. Only guessing but wonder if she's decided to pursue her musical interests with the Yirdbards

Which is what she was up to during her sabbatical....
(I fight with google every time which wants to autocorrect to something else)
I wish her all the best, change is inevitable.

Yipeee! Verity Sharpe back on R3 - Afternoon on 3. No fuss, no gush, no OTT superlatives, and no look at me me me. Just that lovely voice and just getting on with the job.

Oh that there were more like her on R3

                              Yes indeed, totally 'seconded'!
