Sam Lee, definitely not to be confused with Sam Lee.
And Banda Ionica did turn up as expected

Right, off in to the sleet.
I might be some time, Jackie.

Better have a link to the right Sam Lee then...

I notice that, like King George III, he never ventures further North than Cheltenham.
Let's hope that he doesn't share the late Kings propensity for shaking hands with trees, frothing, and passing purple water.

Uri Caine sounded like a Happiness is Hamlet ad to me - Sam Lee was great - I fair enjoyed the show - we've had all our phone lines blown down after a night of snow and howling winds, night before last - so LA ain't a possibility.

these three tracks held my attention in particular. the last tune 'black sand' worthy of a john peel session, before 'digital' meant jp played wall to wall amon tobin, proving he'd gone to sleep, for what turned out to be 'forever'. good to hear verity making amends .......... a decade or so later. better than nowt in the and slush.

Hang on JC - how are you posting this then without an internet connection?

            Via Royal Mail???

            I also liked the poetry...

Can't match your pole down story but we lost electricity this morning for a while - I could still make coffee (gas) and the various computing devices had enough battery to be ok for non-internet things till it came back

Oh yes, and on a point of sub-forum-ness...not only has Paul S become a ship that passes in the night rarely, really, but Lat has gone missing altogether (I need him for that new list).
Should we send out search parties? (probably via Google)

and HandsomeFortune, Zola and the other wanderers have wandered off.
Maybe we need to come up with some right riveting new threads.

Or maybe I'll do some tweeting, although I fear that attracts people of a commercial bent.
Last edited by Globaltruth; 04-04-12, 15:21. Reason: the reason for posting was to agree about Uri C., which I totally forgot to do. Will Spotify some good stuff maybe

Cor HF, I feel I magick-ed you up there...yours was a slightly better post than my 'I liked the poetry' throwaway; clearly I agree. So, really I'm thinking her show was a game of three thirds, the first and the last being best. But great to have her back, I daren't look to see if it is going to be 1 week or 2.

              (checked - it is a 2-week stint)

you did magik me up globaltruth, - but it was more a 'downward' thing. i think paul, lat, zola and myself have possibly been wearing 'the anti gravity attire', as worn by lucky victorians, in a recent drawing that you posted globaltruth! i mean, why not? it's a fabulous alternative to having your ear (feet)? to the ground. all sorts of new perspectives of the world are useful.

verity perhaps might teach certain r3 music presenters a thing or two about presentation style, and perspective too?

'as a matter of fac', i have been listening to radio 1, 1extra, and commercial/foreign stations tbh. it's been interesting, as well as deeply annoying, and outstandingly hypocritical. the upside is, it doesn't involve my pc, and tinternet.

i have also taken to battering my cajon over the top of many r3/4 radio broadcasts in a fit of childish rage....... which doesn't leave an awful lot to share with posters about 'tracks i've enjoyed' ...(more like drowned out/wrecked).

however, IDEALLY we should make positive use of 'the internet highway' before the bandits arrive, and force us to exchange royal mail notifications to each other, in response to music broadcast instead. lots seems to come down to: scale and perspective? rather than numbers, (as the beeb etc might well insist)

ps btw what/where was the andrew motian bit, thingy?

There are some reasons for coming to work Global, though they become fewer and further between. Wire's are still down - Bangalore gave Mrs C an ETA of Monday - remember the days when you rang 151 and an engineer came out - it was a mighty wild night, I'll tell you and the snow was really wet and heavy. But on a different subject I can't add to the Spotty list as I don't get that in here.

Thought the Ajoy Chakrabarty piece that verity played on last night' LJ was glorious.

No, really BBC programme-information providers, it really doesn't matter that it's now Saturday and you still haven't put the programme information from THURSDAY on the site...
Verity Sharp's selection includes Julie Murphy, Kala Ramnath and Sam Lee.

Anyone would think it was a Bank Holiday or something and that you didn't run a 365 day service.

I mean it's not as if anyone is interested in the music played or anything? what's that you say? Royal Mail and an SAE - what a great idea, could you perhaps send me a postal order for twelve bob and I'll buy a stamp immediately...

I tried calling the help desk but this is what happened....

I had a reply from Late Junction to tell me they'd posted the programme details from last Thursday.

Just on a minor obsessional point - they still haven't.

But now, an hour later, and 2 days after they told me they had, it is there.

#thisstuffmatters as they would say on Twitter...

                                She has the right visa.

I now know why she is class. She went to York. Funny I never saw her at Bootham Crescent.

More Jim Moray tonight. The Mountain Music Project should be more interesting. Virginia meets Nepal.
