    Thanks zola - brilliant.

Last night it was that Hedy West again - stopped me in my tracks - or was it Verity's tracks.

Jackie Oates for me last night, along with Mudejar with the music of Al-Andalus. Whose cd seems to retail at a whopping £20 plus. Presumably import.

Had a listen right through to Thursday's show on LA while the rest of the house watched XF - what a treat - loved the Charlie Parr, zola- loved the Gambian Kora, and as I said before that Hedy West. Mind you it was hard to beat Huong Thanh & Nguyên Lê that she opened up with. Terrific programme.

I didn't really think that the Kronos crew added anything at all to Alemu Aga in their collaboration, for all the new old-fangled instruments - think I prefer him on his own. I did think however that the Cesaria Evora remix track was terrific - I'm not sure that it added a huge amount to that wonderful voice but who cares - hard to add to perfection.

            John,

If you had to choose between the late night staple folk, those Kronos and this from Asmahan
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

            Which would you select ?

( It's the same piece which opens their Floodplain cd - see spot )

I loved the opening song on Verity's LJ last night by Aldona Nowowiejska - says in blurb somewhere she's a Slav Comedian among other things.....but completely knocked out by the Cretan lyra man Stelios Petrakis - wonderful.

Following the Max lite / FT regular/ and Schooby uber hefty, Verity's back in town tonight - feels like a possibly pleasant change.

Verity Sharp with music from Uri Caine, and Dawn Upshaw and The Andalucian Dogs.

and luckily Uri Caine has only got as far as Mozart, Wagner & Beethoven...the Mozart piece should be well worth a listen - will it be a little bit WM on Turkish Rondo, or the klezmer in the clarinet 5-hander & the bluesy version of Jupiter. Sacrilegious? I certainly hope so. My favourite is the Wagner though -v. atmospheric. and his CD's are very nicely packaged too. He must sell them globally by the dozen.

Find of the night? Sam Lee.

First track in if you haven't heard it yet...

The Uri Caine was quite ordinary in the end...
