Iceland's supporters might prefer Monty Python's Fish Slapping Dance (which I tried, but failed, to include in this post - video no longer available - )

That's disappointing, L. I think I'll celebrate Panama today, (not sure who else is playing today), with the one thing we all know about Panama.
Yakko Warner sings about the Panama Canal. I own nothing. All rights go to Warner Bros for this and all of my other Animaniacs videos. Enjoy :)

Not very worldy this one, I know!

Ah - I'm leaving some of my national selections to the second group of matches.

Don't think I have done Australia, Costa Rica and Serbia yet either, among others.

                  Adding to JC's Panama contribution:

                    Sweden

I reckon this has a slightly weird similarity to Okinawan music as well as having links to the celtic traditions:

Hedningarna in Almanac Studio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2QaDFwEx9A

                    South Korea

A reminder, here, that South Korea has not always been the polar opposite to the North politically. Folk music was largely banned under the autocratic Government of Park Chung-Hee for most of the 1960s and 1970s. Kim Kwang-Suk (1964–1996) emerged as a member of the folk band Dongmulwon in 1988 before going solo and selling 5 million records. His songs were popular for their sentimental lyrics that critics said "portrayed individuals' sorrow and frustration at a time when the society was struggling in its early stage of democracy following rapid industrialization." He was found dead in his house in 1996. The police said suicide but allegations were made by his family members that it was a murder. His daughter died in similar circumstances in 2007 just before a memorial sculpture was unveiled at the concert hall where he held thousands of concerts and as rap artists were beginning to sample him:

Two giants of world music enter the fray tomorrow with the arrival of Colombia and Senegal. So hard to choose but I'm going for an old standard.

Great stuff but from me it's Youssou. solo - the weird thing about Birima is that no YT clip does what it does live - it nothing less than spiritually transcends; one of my favourite 10 WM songs of all time. I'll do the album and a live performance but neither match - the rain has to be pouring down and the tears of joy with it: Categorise : not over-hyped or overrated:

                          Particularly like the Hedningarna.

                            Thank you,

I've got an ex woman friend who is just moving down to Chandler's Ford and it's kind of weird - it survived and even thrived during all the decades over her accountancy but now the froideur on both sides is too much : to be frank, I no longer do rich people, poor people or anyone in between as they are all dodgy but I still welcome the Southampton vibe so great.

Hey, I've got the Japanese thing to dig out tomorrow which JC especially liked and I did too. Hope you will do. In the meantime, you've talked me into "it". I was very "happy" in those days when the official police were after the racists rather than the smilingly stumbling and terminal illness was not only not at all in out minds but never ever mentioned on the radio:

They don't have life these days - they only have sex and death for that is what they are lightly from the enemy served - I feel sorry for them but they will live long - into dementia:

England - and in my head for all the home nations:

Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds - Three Lions (Football's Coming Home) (Official Video) Listen on Spotify http://smarturl.it/TLFS_SpotFollow The Lightning...

I'm talkative and a bit waffly tonight.

Not huge on Baddiel but what a treasure Skinner has turned out to be - the Formby doc, the history of the music hall with R3's Suzy Klein - if you haven't seen them , fantastic!

But of all the footy songs, I adore this:

Hurricane No 1 - Step Into a Dream (yep, Gareth's if we win the thing) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw-rGx0d82s

(For a short while, a BBC TV theme tune for football). smiley:

                              Japan tomorrow.

Since hearing them on the Colombian 'Road Trip' on BBC Radio 3 Music Planet I've been enjoying the party music of Systema Solar. Here's Rumbera...I think the Colombians will be singing stuff like this in the terraces today.
