Good news - and Britain is now sending three chinooks to Mali to help in the war against terrorism.

(Although possibly only Justin Webb could pronounce the "ch" as in chin and the "ooks" as in books)

... do we have any reliable evidence as to how the various Chinookan people might have pronounced their name?

              .

[ ... wiki maintains that 'Chinook' is a Chehalis word - 'The name ″Chinook″ came from a Chehalis word Tsinúk for the inhabitants of and a particular village site on Baker Bay' ]

                    Actually, correction.

Yes - just like Hylda Baker.

                    Thank you.

I am sorry to hear of their decline.

But there are still more Chinookans in the world than there are Shakers.

Have just read the Secretary General’s speech to today’s special disarmament session of the Security Council. May and Macron are naughty school kids wagging class, chatting about embroidered longbows while nuclear silos are refilled.

                        But there are distinct differences.

While everything falls apart, Mrs May has improved her presentation style in Parliament by getting Lidington to dig out all of Maggie's barbs when Labour was led by Foot. In contrast, Macron is a by-product of the Hadron Collider - the CERN engineers were told to manufacture Blair Mark II, that is, one who didn't simply hope to become the eternal King of Europe.

Thanks, Global - that is very positive news for the people up in the Sahara. Long may it continue. Wonder who Ruth McLean is - maybe Wo3 should give her a phone and get an update on the concert.

Perhaps we should ask people to judge which of the three speeches mentioned above was a) most widely reported and b) most likely to improve humanity’s lot?

I thought you were going to say Macron was advising May that the solution to all her problems was to go round and found in circles, faster and faster, until eventually the cause of the problems caught up with their consequences.
