You rather sidestepped the requested summary of your wife's musical tastes which is fair enough - privacy and all that - but I now have the distinct impression that your son is very into world music as well as folk music. I am expecting at the very least a regular routeing via you of recommendations seeing that Denselow, Mark in the Shed etc are less active these days.

Guess what! I have just rung up the box office and they said she did do a second half so, yes, I walked out at the interval thinking it was the end. Gutted - and I feel such a fule.

….to soften the blow, I have just booked a ticket to see The Dublin Legends at Redhill in March.

Bet they don't have them at Celtic Connections!

(I had asked the security man on the McDonalds door who barely spoke English the way to the Hexagon - confusion all round but he worked out what I meant when I said "the theatre" - two days later I realised Reading has the Hexagon and in Redhill it is the Harlequin - and having left unknowingly at the interval I saw him again and told him it had turned out well)

Apologies...I meant to post these two programmes from Celtic Connections but my computer's not working too great and I forgot.

A week left to have a look.

Thank you JC. I have now watched them. LW III is in fine form. Good to hear the very wonderful songs by Graham Nash too. Julie Fowlis is an excellent presenter. The venue is also good. I am a bit surprised, though, that the programmes are so short and not entirely representative of the festival. The brand new BBC television station for Scotland starts tonight.

The new BBC Scotland TV channel will go on air for the first time on Sunday night.

Yeah, I was disappointed at the lack of range of coverage, Lat. The new station is causing some major cynicism - their big launch this evening includes the opening episode of the new and final series of 'Still Game' - hardly earth shattering. BBC4's now channel 82 - bit harder to remember except it's next to 'Talking Pictures'.

I heard that it is aimed at younger people - a continuation of the BBC's concerns about losing those. If so, it is a bit ironic that they moved BBC3 - a station which obviously I rarely watched - so it was only on the net. I'm not sure that they know what they are doing generally or what is for the best. But hopefully one or two things of interest will emerge from it.

If they do, Lat, your Scottish correspondent will attempt to keep you up to speed.
