    Thank you for this, JC.

Yesterday when I looked I couldn't get the list of artists.

Now I can and the list is so long I am only beginning to take it all in.

For a start, I didn't know there was a Steven Polwart.

But this is what immediately caught the eye:

... and thank you, Lats for highlighting the Michael Marra event, too!

Karine's brother, Lat. He's been the accompanying guitarist on her records

I've been trying to buy tickets but struggling to get onto the site, Lat. There is a new book out about Michael by local renowned author James Robertson.

I was talking to someone who's reading it at the moment and she told me that Dr John did actually play the Gig in Blairgowrie (unblinkinbelievable)...that it was not a myth, and that the book has a picture of the poster for the event.

l notice that they are launching Celtic Connections 2019 tomorrow...already announced Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba on Burn's Nicht...also The Young'uns - The Ballad of Jonny Longstaff at the start of February.
Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures across the globe.

...and Judy Collins in the totally beautiful Mackintosh Church in Maryhill.

Thank you for this, JC - Judy Collins, wow......will you be trying to get a ticket? I think I would be if there rather than here.

Sure did, Lat - the thought of Judy in the Mackintosh Church was too much of an attraction to miss. Not horrendously expensive either. Full programme for 2019 launched this evening.

...and me! I guess you are intimating that the acoustic of the church will be a good venue for an unaccompanied ‘Amazing Grace’ and a ‘Farewell to Tarawathie’ JC.

JC, I got the Google images up for the church and like it a lot. I have never seen Judy Collins live. Such was the allure, I was all ready to book tickets, knowing that the chances of me getting there are one in a million. That didn't seem fair when the seat could go to someone who could definitely make it. So I've been on to her website and discovered - I can't believe this - she is due to be at the Harlequin, Redhill on 25 January. I've never been in it but it is only seven miles from me so I'm just about to book it. All being well, we can compare notes.

                  Yes.....I have now booked it.

I've just checked and she's not coming to the SW. January is not a good time to be travelling up country!

                      That's a pity cloughie - I wonder why she isn't going there.

She's going to some strange places - Redhill is one; Deal is another.

It's CRM's only church and beautiful inside and the only time I attended a concert there the sound was terrific. Mrs C also exhibited paintings in there. I was also thinking the great Shaker song 'Simple Gifts', cloughie, one of my favourite tracks by Judy Collins, and I think also from the wonderful 'Whales and Nightingales'.

Have you heard any of the Stephen Stills/Judy Collins album?

Didn't know such a thing existed, cloughie. I will go and have a look for it.

Can't find much detail about this, but somehow Slow Moving Clouds with Lisa O'Neill in St Andrews Square appeals very much. Saw Chris Wood there at last year's Celtic Connections and I enjoyed the venue. Early Feb they are showing up towards the end of CC...it's Lisa O'Neill really that attracts...complete opposite of Judy C really.

I'd like to hear Lisa O'Neill duet with Radie Peat from Lankum - not just at CC but anywhere....

I've changed the title of this thread to Celtic Connections, there is interconnectedness from year to year so a general thread on the topic made sense. And this is it
