Mondays are Idiosyncrasy 'Cos They Ain't 'Nuttin Else
On this Christmas week, and following the lack of pub visiting, it's time to roll-out the annual trip to the Royal Hotel in Dungworth...don't you just want to be there?

Happy Idiosyncratic Christmas Monday to all!
Echo above.
Maddy Prior from a favourite Christmas album in this house.
Had second pub pint since March on Saturday when daughter and partner came down from London for pub lunch and present exchange - just squeezed it in before clampdown.

Happy Idiosyncratic Christmas Monday to all!
...and have a Good Soltice!
A good South Yorkshire Christmas pub sing - takes me back 50 years!
The Star of Bethlehem which is due to shine this evening is a stark reminder that the Cornish Carol bearing the words will be sung less this year and not allowed in pubs!

Well done, gurney...feel jealous. Haven't been inside a pub for a drink since the start of October and round here there's a few pubs that look unlikely to open their doors again. Thanks for the Maddy Prior - beautiful track.

Great bit of singing there, cloughie. Couldn't take my eyes off the guy on the right hand side who looked totally wild-eyed.
Here's a track that I know Mr Globaltruth loves, and I love this video telling the tale of the Mari Lwyd. Needs a run-out at this time of year and when could be better than this particularly idiosyncratic Monday.

Loved that. The tuba reminded me of a recent visit to Papa Joe's Klimperkiste, a very cosy Kölsch and jazz Lokal in Cologne. When there is no live jazz they have an automated accordion and tuba duo. Found someone's clip

Great G! Nothing like audience participation. If yer man had not joined in - I would have . . . and did!
Svang have a new record out and I like what I've heard, though sometimes I'm not sure if it's the music or the madness of the moothie playing quartet that I enjoy...bit of both I suppose.
This is a sample from our upcoming album played in Theatre Am Spittelberg in August 2020. Thank you Nuschin Vossoughi for recording! The song is a medley of t...
This band of Georgian polyphonists featured on Saturday's Music Planet with some Christmas songs. Thought I'd post this...I always think Georgia looks good for a visit.

Just been to an zoomy Burn's event at which Dundee's wonderful Sheena Wellington sang a couple of tunes, among which was 'A Man's A Man For A' That'...not a dry eye in the house and beyond.

I love it when he pops tracks like this in - always unexpected, although entirely logical and well-chosen.
Enjoy your haggis JC - not sure when I'll be able to enjoy one again.
One time I must tell you about the faggot*, a regional Midlands delicacy which bears more than a passing resemblance.
Eaten with gray pays (which is a way of saying 'green peas').
(* there are other meanings to this word and, to be frank, it is wearisome if anyone feels they must point that out...but, y'know, up to you)

Had their veggie version last night for the virtual Burns' event, cloughie...and very tasty it was too especially when punctuated with a bit of Guinness gravy and a wee nip.
Heard this great version of 'Ye Banks and Braes' by Mairearad Green on BBC Gaelic radio on Saturday morning. Beautifully atmospheric, I thought, and loved her voice.
