DJ Ernesto Chahoud was on Music Planet with Kathryn yesterday and one of the tracks he chose was Egyptian guitarist, Omar Khorshid, and very fine indeed it was. Here's Omar in less traditional style covering The Shadows' 'Apache'...thought it might fit nicely for a Random World Music Sunday...have a good belly dance.

Kathryn Tickell played an excellent track from He Jinhua's 'Songs of the Naxi of Southwest China' on yesterday's Music Planet'. Here's a sampler of the music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYGeaQqkUac
...and here's a bit more information about the record that is coming out on Folkways.

Bandits Are Doing Bad Deeds

Comorian
Provided to YouTube by IDOLBandits Are Doing Bad Deeds · ComorianWe Are an Island, but We're Not Alone℗ Glitterbeat RecordsReleased on: 2021-05-07Producer: I...
Recorded live and outdoors on Grande Comore island by .... Ian Brennan (Tinariwen, Ustad Saami, Zomba Prison Project).
The Comoro islands are known locally as the “islands of the moon.”
“We are an island, but we’re not alone” is the first album of original songs ever to be released from the region.
Brennan and his wife and working partner Marilena Delli Umuhoza took six flights to get to Grand Comora, the largest of the islands, hoping to record a seldom heard double-reed pipe called the ndzumara, only to be told on arrival that the last living player of the instrument had recently died. Through word of mouth they made contact with another fine musician and singer called Soubi plus his friend and mentor Mmadi, both of whom they proceeded to record, and We are an island, but we're not alone is the result.
The majority of the Comoro people are living in poverty and Brennan describes in the sleeve notes how the main source of income is sustenance fishing. Soubi and Mmadi present five songs each, on aspects of their everyday life, mainly accompanying themselves on the ndzendze, a box-zither related to the Malagasy valiha, and in Soubi's case also on the gambussi, a type of lute. - Rootswold
And, because we're not limited to a single track. How about this?
From 2016, streamed a mere 292 million times (yes, you read that right).
The Dead South, In Hell I'll be in Good Company, a redefinition of bluegrass - or is it? Im taken with these ultra simplistic rhyming schemas at the moment. Senility I suspect...

Great video. Also ultra simple.
The Dead South have causied a stir online with their song ‘In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company’. Labelled as bluegrass, a form of American roots music related to the country genre, the song has been causing many fans to question the authenticity of the bluegrass affiliation. With influences of Irish, Scottish, and later, African American, the lines begin to blur. - musiccrowns

Well, JLA played Gordon Easton singing The Drunken Piper on LJ which included an explanation of the fiddley-da-dee-da-fiddley-oh - made the title v relevant.
(and what a mixed bag LJ is nowadays - this ep. worked quite well, although the themed approach seems a bit lazy sometimes I find)
I couldn't find that exact track so here's a slinky World Music version of the song and Gordon Easton himself with a couple of tracks.
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
This is an amateur video clip from the annual Bothy Ballad Contest that used to be held in conjunction with the Turriff & District Pipe Band Contest in the H...
So, JC over to you for verification/explanation...and translation of the Gordon Easton tracks - I could understand most of it but there was the odd word or phrase that escaped understanding

wherever I am, is where I want to be,
2) Sine and I will go to the piper's house and dance a reel on the floor
3)As the piper gives us a tune for the reel, the shepherd has a fiddle and the craftsman has a pipe
3C) I heard from Sine that she had a jaw's harp and a comb, Although every fiddler and piper would be there
However, Mrs C has always told me it means 'I like my porridge hot with salt in it', Global.
