The album is called 1958 and two tracks from it, Ngwa and Mpodol have both been released as singles. Funny old thing the music industry - wonder what market those singles are aimed at? A couple of tracks by Djénéba & Fousco from their Kayeba Khasso album.
Djénéba Kouyate apparently won a national TV talent contest Tounkagouna (Mali's Got Talent !). A scion of the Kouyate griot family.
Ballaké Sissoko plays kora, acoustic and electric guitar and percussion with Valentin Ceccaldi on cello.

Great vocals there, GT. Enjoyed them. This week I have been listening to a lot of Moroccan things courtesy of a disc of Moroccan music that came with this issue of 'Songlines'. I'd have loved to post a couple here or on Spotty but no luck finding them yet. However the North African sounds did send me back to my Orchestra Nationale de Barbes Live CD and I had real fun revisiting it in the motor yesterday. People talk about good driving music, but 'Alaoui' is dangerous driving music...as soon as it came on I just wanted to dance all over the road. Been enjoying 'Next Stop...Soweto, Township Sounds' in the motor this week...ideal for an African Saturday and I've often thought that what the Scottish dialect lacks is a good going click, like the Mahotella Queens have on this one.
