A rare performance of Totó La Momposina performing El Pescador live in 1991.
(only 2 days early)
I noticed that Monty Norman died this week, credited with writing the James Bond theme - I love Roland Alphonso's ska take on it.

The film, 'The Harder they Come', is 50 years old - - and it's being re-released in the cinemas this week.
Fifty years on, this crime drama of a headstrong singer shooting for his chance of success is as raw and energetic as its reggae soundtrack
Did any film have a greater soundtrack? On Friday evening on BBC Radio 4 Ellen Jones and Mark Kermode discuss the impact of the film on 'Screenshot' with Don Letts among others.
Meanwhile the title track sounds as wonderful today as it did way back when.
Happy Caribbean Thursday - behave yourself out there.

Here's a great wee tune for a Caribbean Thursday. I found an old Charlie Gillett compilation CD in one of the boxes and came upon this track from the turn of the millennium by Nava from Puerto Rico. It had slipped my mind and I really enjoyed finding it again. Great brass on it. 'La Vaquita' (Cowgirl, I think, which probably explains some of the moos in there. )

Drummie Zeb died earlier this month.............. RIP
The Aswad drummers distinct style on the Janet Kay hit "Silly Games" (written by Dennis Bovell) helped take it to number 2 in the charts.
I love the dub version!!
