Thanks Paul, loved the enthusiasm...how did they manage to get such a fine show that might be termed World and music on at such a reasonable time? - I think Woj should give us R3 midnight creepers a treat like that at least once a month.
John, yep, it's that wonderful, unmissable documentary even with the inclusion of Mr Unnecessary, aka Bono. Star of the show for me is ... no I'll not prejudice your viewing !
I decided to bodyswerve most of the Ravelaisian ditties on 3 yesterday, and was rewarded with an excellent hour on 6 in the company of David Rodigan, where he and Lamacq played a host of fine reggae tunes in the post 6pm watershed, including this which I thought was a real beaut.
Nitin Sawhney Spins the Globe is back on Rad2 for another series of 4 - I find him a bit irritating but he's playing a few nice tunes* and he's got Natacha Atlas in to do a session with him - write and record on the day - listening to him you'd think he was the only one who does this - doesn't he listen to Late Junction on that once a month Thursday...honestly!!!

I heard this in the car the other day - a very wee bit of good tunes but somehow dance doesn't quite work in the medium of radio I find - he speaks 6 or 7 languages mind you, including Welsh I think I heard.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Doc on Gene Clark on Beeb 4 this Friday.

Reason: ...remembered Gene!
Gilles has a Do-Over from Brazil's Jorge Ben and New York beatmaker Brock Berrigan.
He started off with Seun Kuti, but I found after that there was a long overdose of high powered dance beats so this particular listener tuned out.
Clearly unfair to make such a recommendation on the basis of a single listen, so I will revisit his show again during this decade and provide a more considered opinion...
Hope springs eternal - I'm now looking forward to the new controller joining r3 who will doubtless sort WM out once and for all...what do you reckon he/she'll do?

Watched BBC2's 50 years of music last night - needless to say the programme was one where some short clips you wanted more of and some you wanted a lot less of. Really enjoyed the one-minute clip from this piece from the early 90s of Ryuichi Sakamoto, I think on the Late Show, so looked out the whole thing.

Just noticed that Sahrawi singer Aziza Brahim whom I mentioned did a great session on Cerys Matthews' show on Sunday is a guest of Jools this week...I don't often have much reason to tune in but will be making an exception this week.
