Often feel that hip hop is best in French - the language seems to lend itself to the medium. Francoise Atlan is French of Berber Jewish origin and sings in the Sephardic tradition. There's a fine article about her in the recent edition of Songlines Magazine. Here she sings 'Uskader' which seems to be Turkish, having travelled from the Iberian peninsula in Moorish times. Wonderful voice and ideal for a spot of cross-cultural Wednesday.
