An unusual one by a composer 'never played', although requested many times! Daniel-Lesur. His Suite Médiévale is a lovely work written for Pierre Jamet's Group Instrumentale de Paris which consisted of flute, harp and string trio....most of the works for this combination were thus commissioned. Lunchtime concerts on a Sunday at the Salle Garnier ( the old opera house ) in Paris recreate these, the section leaders of the opera orch make up the quintet.
Edit. But not the above perf.Last edited by Roger Webb; 10-04-24, 11:08.

Mine included One of my favourite moments of French TV was David Bowie declaring his ongoing love for her in a TV studio.."I loved you Francoise back then (1960s), and all my friends loved you, even our girlfriends loved you! I STILL LOVE YOU!"
François..."Oh Daveeeeed, you foooool!"
Brilliant.

Olivia Chaney is part of the Nick Drake Prom later in July - Prom 8. Here she is singing 'Auprès de ma blonde' for this particular French Wednesday.

I hadn't knowingly heard Celine Dion sing before, but I found her performance of 'Hymne a l'amour' to finish the opening ceremony of the Games, from the Eiffel Tower, in the rain, very moving. Decided to go back to the original and check it out, and here's the little sparrow in more intimate surroundings singing that same song...wonderful.

Nice to think that Paris is returning to normal after the 'lympibs and before the Paralympics get going - we all love Paris after all. Happy Parisian Wednesday.
