Not often you see a guy having a good draw on a ciggie on the front cover of a record these days...Here's Nathan Abshire with 'La Valse de Kaplan' - ideal for a wee French Wednesday twirl round the kitchen.

A downbeat track today...
This is "oiseaux leo ferre" by dupraz jean paul on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.
The Birds of Misfortune by Léo Ferré
'Oiseau de malheur' (bird of misfortune), is a perjorative idiom used to describe people whose presence seems to attract bad luck and catastrophes, or, sometimes wrongly used, to describe someone who always make really pessimistic forecasts about the future - our Blessed Chancellor and Sainted Prime Minster are most definitely not such birds in either sense. C'est vrai, non?

Not strictly speaking French, but it's Joni's birthday this week - 78 on Sunday - and this live performance from the Jay Leno show turned up in my inbox this week...'In France they say, Love puts on a new face' as she says in this track from 'Taming the Tiger' with drummer, Brian Blade. Thought it might not break the rules.

Completely non-French lyrics of course,
(apart from "And we were walking down Main Street
Kisses like bright flags hung on holidays
In France they kiss on Main Street
Amour, mama, not cheap display
And we were rollin'
Rollin'
Rock 'n' rollin'")
but who cares? Not me.

A crackin' tune from Mde Ed Bolduc called 'Les Medecins' from the most recent John Heneghan podcast about French Canadian music of the 40s and 50s, where R Crumb makes valiant attempts to pronounce French.
Paroles: Si quelqu'un veux les écrires, écrivez les dans les commentaires, je vais ensuite les placer ici avec votre nomParoles par: (nom ici)
Great programme as always.
