Just goes to show accidents did always happen in this video of TdF clips from the 80's. Greg LeMond and The badger loom large.
Oh, the music is terrible by the way, maybe turn it down?

Ouch! That hurt! But the music wasn't all that bad - I heard a bit of Frere Jacques at the end.

Yeah I had forgotten that bit of it, but enjoyed it when it came on...I thought it was a good theme tune at the time, Global...some great crashes there...some things never change, even if the bikes have.

Despite the French Empire, the griot tradition continued irrespective.

Here Sibo Bangoura sings a traditional West African song, Nan Fulie, about the importance of the Griot people.

              Jacques Brel - Une île

              "an island
An island off the coast of hope
Where men would not be afraid
And soft and calm like your mirror"

Fancy a French man capturing the essence of our noble island so well.

Nothing odd about that simile at all.

... ahem, a Belgian man (How can we keep up our ten famous Belgians if people forget Brel!)

Today President Macron paid homage - the first French President to visit the French Polynesian territory of the Marquesas, where both Brel and Gauguin are buried, a few yards apart (final photo in article below) -

Le président français appuie ainsi l’initiative des autorités locales qui se sont lancées depuis plusieurs années dans la longue procédure pour obtenir ce label de l’Unesco.

A gentle wee piece by Lo'Jo for the premier Mercredi Français d'Août...I think it's about an old piano. Such a great sound Lo'Jo make.

                      New to me.
Can't beat a bit of Fench growling as we go along.

According to the album cover, here's a groovy French sound from the sixties - Cosette with 'Idéalisation'

You know anton l enjoy Croissant Corner - usually some interesting vocal tracks - but with a cup of tea - too early for Croissants.

Following the death of Charlie Watts, here's a French cover of 'Paint it Black' by Marie Laforet for a sunny French Wednesday. Always loved Charlie's drums on the original.
