    louis sarno RIP

On 'Last Word' today I heard about the death of American musicologist Louis Sarno who lived with and recorded the amazing soundscapes of the Bayaka people of the Central African Republic. He died at the beginning of the month.

Thanks JC, I hadn't heard of him and had missed the programme

    Just quickly checked

And couldn't find a mention - odd as it is an American resource, but, even more bizarrely, they don't have an African Special Interest Group....

Global, It said on 'Last Word' that it was on hearing a piece of music from the Bayaka people that spurred him to head to the Congo and live and record these people. I wonder if the piece he heard is the one that's on Voyager's golden record...recorded by Colin Turnbull, I think.
