Here's Mr 'Scratch' Perry doing Q&A in the weekend Guardian as only he could. What a delightful surprise from them usual suspects - I didn't know whether to feel sorry for the cat or the bird. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandsty...erry-interview
The above Q and A is brilliant. I love LSP. Same school as Sun Ra, Ivor Cutler and Bootsy Collins. That's definitely the tent I'm heading to when we all join in heaven.
In fact I listen to LJ much more than World on 3 these days
Me too, although you do get 4 LJ's in a week, compared to a Wo3 and a WR so they have twice as much opportunity to hit the mark. I loved that Nils Henrik Asheim & Gjertrud's Gypsy Orchestra playing Chopin's Mazurka Op. 68 No. 2 in A minor but I do have to say I wouldn't mind if FT kicked her addiction to Mr SylviaN.
I left and now do double-serving self-think. Wo3 is a "depends who is on" programme, much like Any Questions. Come to think of it, much like virtually all of the BBC output. The commercial stations don't even provide that dilemma.
I'm glad you're all having fun here because I'm not. This world music board is like bad religion. Largely written in gobbledegook. Can someone please tell me how my original post morphed into this boring trash. I think I'll stick to the classical boards where I feel I can actually learn something worthwhile. Roll on the Proms. We listen and we discuss. Anyone can take part who has a decent pair of ears. You don't have to learn a biographical dictionary about obscure practitioners or suck up to second rate DJ intermediaries.
Martin - with my host's hat on, if you would like me to close this thread, or move any postings to another thread just let me know.
As one of the posters I can vouchsafe that the intention was not to irritate but to entertain and share information; clearly this has not been the result from your perception and, as it is 'your' thread it is your call as to where we go with it.
You should perhaps note though that the majority of threads on this particular board do get derailed.
