Well not exactly Irish as such, but 'Seven Drunken Nights' (We're only allowed to hear about five of them) came on the radio and I was reminded of 'Drunkard's Special' by Coley Jones from the Harry Smith Anthology of American Folk Music...though he's only allowed to sing about three of them...both based on the old Scottish song 'Our Goodman' I notice on wiki.

Well, I don't know quite what to do on these daily threads as it seems to me now, not that I am being critical, that they may narrow things down.
But I am going for Sinead O'Connor. Bah. Yes I know and there are strong arguments against her. There are also strong arguments for saying that when she has been good she has been great and four songs really prove that point. If there is disagreement, fine but it will, of course, be wrong. When she is in her sixties/seventies? Yes I believe she may/could/will:

29 years on and I still have the unfairly maligned penultimate and ultimate "indie" teatime show of Peter Powell on cassette.
No ifs, no buts - after the nightmare of "Seaside Special", he was maturing nicely and he really shouldn't have got out at 40!

Seeing as I am inclined to be seduced by self promotion, commercialism and such, it is to be expected that I would overlook the quiet genius of Len Graham, one of the North's folk artists. The link provides some information on 'Show More'
