Not hard to choose here,G. A great song, made for a pub on a lads' night out, sung in a good arrangement with humour and enjoyment to an appreciative audience. Mind you, they worked hard to achieve that spontaneity and precision. Loved it.

I am enjoying the new Karine Polwart and Dave Milligan record so much. Here is Karine singing that Irish classic, 'The Parting Glass', with Dave's beautiful piano accompaniment.
The Parting Glass was originally commissioned by Peter Hanington of BBC Radio 4 for a Today programme curated by (the legend that is) Margaret Atwood. Margar...

A great mixed bag today - a video covering two songs, with interesting background notes from Muireann Nic Amhlaibh and husband Billy Mac Fhlionn. The first song is Port na bPucai, Song of the Fairies, associated with Iarla, Sean ORiada and others, and with Seamus Heaney through his poem The Given Note,; the second is a traditional call to action, Oro se do Bheatha aBhaile, Welcome Home, usually in a rebel interpretation but here a call by the performers to solidarity in the face of the pandemic. It's worth hearing both.
