While we're here, the mighty Joan Baez is 80- today - here she is with Bob on 'Blowing in the Wind'. Happy Birthday, JB.
I captioned this performance so that hearing impaired people can watch and catch these haunting lyrics easier. I own no rights to this video.
In the early 60s, after we had got a turntable in the house, my Dad bought an early Vanguard LP of Joan singing songs that have stayed with me down through the years - songs like 'Lily of the West', 'Banks of the Ohio', 'Barbara Allen' and 'Plaisir D'Amour'. Wonderful record. Here's her take on the Carter Family's 'Engine 143'.

Still on Joan Baez, I never knew her Mum was from Edinburgh...I found it out on 'Inheritance Tracks' on 4 extra this morning - she chose Jussi Bjorling's singing 'Tonerna', and her own 'Diamonds and Rust'. (about Bob and her, of course)
