He performed it on the 1978 tour but never again and I found no reference to it in any of my numerous Dylan books. He doesn't seem to have recorded it but I found a clip from the gig.

In the early 60s, after we had got a turntable in the house, my Dad bought an early Vanguard LP of Joan singing songs that have stayed with me down through the years - songs like 'Lily of the West', 'Banks of the Ohio', 'Barbara Allen' and 'Plaisir D'Amour'. Wonderful record. Here's her take on the Carter Family's 'Engine 143'.

The mid to late 60s were her best albums - ‘5’, ‘Farewell Angelina’, ‘Joan’ and ‘Any Day Now’ the last of these being originally a 2LP set of Bob Dylan songs with a wonderful recording of ‘Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands’.

Still on Joan Baez, I never knew her Mum was from Edinburgh...I found it out on 'Inheritance Tracks' on 4 extra this morning - she chose Jussi Bjorling's singing 'Tonerna', and her own 'Diamonds and Rust'. (about Bob and her, of course)
