The article mentions the word "kaba" which until now has been the first word I would have used when asked to talk about Albanian music.

Now, I suppose, there is a need to get used to "saze" which, it seems, is a more encompassing term.

Finally, a word on the presentation - it was strong and I am beginning to be won over to the idea that Kathryn Tickell is a right choice and probably a tad better suited to my listening than anyone we have had on the programme or indeed on Late Junction since Charlie.

Vieux Farka Toure was great on Wo3 last night. He was playing from the CCA in Sausage Roll Street in Glasgow from Celtic Connections. In '86/'87 I saw his Dad in that same venue, then called the 'Third Eye Centre'. Long time viewers of the Quiet Corner may recall that my pal and I thought we were going to see S.E.Rogie, but when we got there it was Ali on show. The audience sat mesmerised throughout, and I imagined last night's audience experiencing something similar. Some good tunes getting played too. Didn't get to the end of the show - early start today, but I'll definitely be heading back for the following guests.

I mentioned that there were some fine tunes between the acts on Friday's Wo3 and this was one I enjoyed very much. TootArd are five musicians from the Golan Heights and this is Bayati Blues.

Still listening to the excellent 'Song of the Gaels' recorded at this year's Celtic Connections which takes over Wo3 this evening. Mostly traditional Gaelic songs orchestrated and sung by many of Scotland's finest - Julie Fowlis, Karen Matheson, Gillebride MacMillan, Kathleen MacInnes and Arthur Cormack among others. I caught a bit of part one of this on BBC Alba this evening and on the strength of this will be going back for another watch. Meanwhile I'm enjoying Wo3 very much indeed.
