Enjoyed the Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris , Dolly Parton Trio programme on Beeb 4 this evening narrated by KT. Didn't know Linda had Parkinsons these days. They didn't play this but I had to go dig it out - glorious harmony.

My hearing is definitely getting worse.
Anyway the combination of whistles, timbales and the relaxed tenor sax of Issa Cissoko make this not a bad start to the week

Perhaps not surprising, but George Monbiot chose this board favourite as one of his playlist tracks this issue of Songlines. Always a delight to hear Chris Wood's 'Mad John' especially when unexpected, as it was in the car yesterday.
The Pin-Barrel Harp is now close to completion and is shown being put through some trial performances by Henry Dagg and Chris Wood. The Pin-Barrel Harp is a ...

I think those sessions he did with the pin-barrel harp are his finest moments.

                    Nothing less than excellent.

Reference to yesterday's Buika gig at Eventim Arena (radio or newspaper, can't remember) alerted me to the fact that she had released a new album Vivir sin miedo. Very mixed reviews on Amazon. Just checking it out on Spotify. Must admit I tend to agree, over engineered, to much R 'n B etc. and too much in English. Very disappointing given her previous output.

'Ja Funmi' by King Sunny Ade just popped up on one of those algorithmic recommends on Spotty. Hadn't heard it in ages...fine tune indeed.
1982ja funmi means "fight for me" in the yoruba language. the song is a plea to the creator - to fight for me so that i may move forward with success in life.

Lat, around your birthday you were talking about Steve Biko, who I think shares your birthday. This past week I picked up, in a charity shop, a CD by Manu Dibango from 20 years or so back. On it this rather excellent version of 'Biko' with Ladysmith, Gabriel, Alex Brown, Sinead O'Connor and Geoffrey Oryema.

Hmm, this actually fits into this thread I think even though it's a pulsating, nonstop, complete radio station
Tout l'univers musical de FIP, sélection de titres Jazz, Electro, Rock, Pop, Groove et bien plus. Écoutez la radio en direct et les radios thématiques.

Now, their site ain't too clever, your pc may give you warnings about its configuration, but you can easily find it with one of your clever multi radio apps like TuneIn.
It's worth seeking out... no ads, no dj- well, not so far.
Just hours of World Music, much of which is new to me (e.g. la 33 - Cubanistic).
As you may recall,FIP is a French station, now they seem to have split by genre and that's no bad thing.
Check it out while you still can, after Brexit I'm reliably informed there will be a radio tax for listening to non-U.K. Stations :-))

Mrs GT has been filling her boots whilst I've been checking whether the polar bears had got my winter cabbage and hacking wildly.
That's soft fruit, not Trumps emails (leave that to The Jester).
The polar bears hadn't but they're boll*xed all the same.
Bit like Trumps emails. He says he doesn't use it - he does though.
And I wasn't aware of those stations - I will investigate. Snow very deep here with people sliding down the steepest hills. This square mile is probably the snowiest part of Greater London. It normally is. Some bus drivers note the dropping temperatures on their devices as they attempt the climb up from the A23. Not that many will have attempted it today.

I am no fan of Mr Trump but:

Wasn't it Mr McCain in Ukraine with Mr Kagan, Ms Nuland, a dodgy Dutch internet station and a bread bag (as they might say in Cluedo)? Here is the latter doing her bit for, erm, charidee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVs2tcSyyuA. I am not sure if one of the others in the clip is her neo-hubby or not. There is also the point that The Donald is not embarrassed by anything otherwise he would have been by now or should have been. Plus the Putin love-in is about (a) oil and (b) better the devil you know unless people want the alternative, ie this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKLyQZQJeO4. The big questions are will we have "Simple Gifts" at the inauguration and where can I get that hat?
