this is my favourite track by the Prince.
A view probably not shared by Branson R.

Just needs to be played at half the speed and a lot more echo on the bass.

I suppose LSP and David Lynch is an obvious pairing, not that I would ever have thought of the idea.

That works vocally too - and I love that song.

I don't recall them having a reggae aspect but I might be thinking of another band.

I truly believe the fourth is one of the best "world/dance fusion" records ever produced.

              Possibly the best!

Great bit of McGarrigle film there, Lat, and one of my favourites of their tracks - surprised we haven't heard anything from Joe about them yet. Alan Stivell looks mighty like Bill Bailey...you never see them together, do you? I think we should be told!

'Bethe Bethe Kese Kese' is totally crackin' right enough! Great choice!

I think JB did mention the McGarrigles but can't remember where it was in the alphabet.

I think it was in the Bahamas - 'O' - he played a live version of 'Travellin' on for Jesus' with Chaim Tannenbaum accompanying, Lat.

Saw him at Womad - not a priority - and it worked its way into my head throughout the weekend.

So much so that it was the song still on my mind on the bus home..........it is very, very haunting:

Let me just go a bit anorak on the McGarrigles for a moment...

This is the last song Kate McGarrigle wrote. Here she is singing it live:
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Here's Martha Wainright, Loudon and Kate's daughter, with her version...
Martha Wainwright's soaring yet delicate harmonies take center stage in her performance of elegy "Proserpina," written by her late mother, the legendary folk...

Rosetti was also interested in Proserpina...

I'm more surprised Verity and/or MAK don't play more McGarrigles, given their fondness for French/Canadian music...

Lat - you may well be right, it's certainly prompted me to revisit that particular album, thanks.

Anytime is fine with me, Global...great pair of vids, and great to do a bit reading about Prosperina - perhaps she's been hanging out in the underworld a bit much lately as her Mum doesn't seem too happy with us.
Anyway, while we're on the subject, here's the aforementioned Chaim Tannenbaum doing 'Travelling on for Jesus' from a Kate McGarrigle celebration - I love it.

On Radcliffe and Talkington yesterday (renowned travel agency to the North) they played James Yorkston's 'Little Black Buzzer' and with all due respect, and there's loads, I had to dig out the original for the first time in a wee while.

It was on 6M and R3 on the same day?

Isn't that a bit of a weird coincidence?
