One of the first ever LPs I remember in the house when I was wee was a collection of traditional songs by Joan Baez on the Vanguard label. One of my favourites was her version of 'Barbara Allen', but it may have just been overtaken by Shirley Collins' version that I heard the other day. Like Joan, Shirley has a voice like no other.
