Sorry if I'm repeating myself.
But I listened to it for an hour and a half last night, every song was enjoyabl and of a very high quality.
It isn't really a replica of the links here. Much more imaginative.

So on that basis, Derek Gripper and Julia Easterlin/Vieux Farka Toure added! Feel free to delete if you don't agree, mind you, if you do I shall play 'Stalin wasn't stalling' and think of you...

Hardly surprising given JC's previous explanatory post.

Well, I can't add to it because I have the list and then when I go to search all the list greys out.
It's very, very frustrating but obviously there is still some way of doing it and you have found it.

Think I will need to try to log in separately and see what happens.

The link, though, just takes me back to the same sort of situation. I will have to try to log in again.
......no, whichever way I try it, I can only play it - not add to it!Last edited by Lat-Literal; 25-11-15, 01:48.

Don't delete anything JC (well, maybe that stinker). I love the DG connection - maybe we should have a separate playlist and thread of Tenuous Connections? I sat in a coach with Una Stubbs once - wonder if she's recorded much WM? It was a train coach not a landau.
Lat - we need to get you back into the swing of Spotify. Some Q's:
1 are you still using the same ID? Or more than 1 ID?
2 is your version of Spotify the latest? If not it should be
3 what platform are you accessing it on - if a Windows PC what version of Windows?
Here's a quote from a Spotify help forum about this very problem:
"
If it's still not working though, try it in the desktop app, either by changing the URl to "open.spotify.com" rather than "play.spotify.com" in the address bar, or head into the web player settings and change links to open automatically in the desktop app."
Depending on how you fire up Spotify that may or may not make sense

But there are odd things about the layout. I get masses of headings about "would I want to join Spotify?". There is a tiny worded bit which says log in. And then when I log in it's nearly all about details of the account, Spotify's community etc but there is one part that says "your music" or something similar. And then I have to keep recalling my playlists including our collaborative ones. Each time I'm thinking "but where is the bit where I can download/stream?". Admittedly, there is a "search" facility but I type in "Okinawa" or even "Ry Cooder and Okinawa" and I can play that song but not download it, let alone add it to any list including my ones. Because whatever list is on the screen - and it's JC's A to Z - it is greyed out as soon as the search facility is used. Also, none of the vertical lines move horizontally. I am on Windows 8 and the old computer was XP. I'm using the same ID as before and think it is the latest version. The one on the old computer may not have been. But it sounded to me as if JC was also having some system problems? So is it just me? That isn't a criticism of JC but I'm just wondering if some of the problems are occurring because of changes introduced by Spotify for the mobile phone and i-pad market etc?Last edited by Lat-Literal; 25-11-15, 11:17.

.....ah, something has happened this morning.
If I do search and click on Cooder's Okinawa I have found if I right click with the mouse it gives me the option to "send to JC's list". That's an improvement. What I can't do is add songs with JC's list showing on the screen. I'm sure that before I could have a list on the screen and add, being able to see what was on the list already. Is this a general change?

Yes, Spotify have created a bit of a monster - they have subtlely different versions for all the platforms you mention, different versions with not quite the same functionality, the user interface is very unclear due to a bizarre habit of putting dark grey on black and expecting people to spot almost invisible slider bars. However we've made an investment of time (and money in it) and I wouldn't fancy trying to move the WM sub-forum works to another platform for a whole host of reasons. So we're a bit stuck.
What I'm still not clear about (because I haven't asked you, not because you havent told me) is how you start Spotify up.
Starting up from a web browser = bad, seems impossible to use.
Starting up from the Spotify app = good. You should be able to download the app ok in Windows 8 - maybe you have...? If so, then you should check for and apply any updates, then try logging out and in again.
Apologies for hijacking the thread for this discussion but ho hum...
PS, just seen your post - no, that isn't a general change, you can still add from to the list whilst seeing the list. Maybe just a navigation issue then? Somewhere you need to click on Playlists..

I will go back to it shortly. Sometimes if I leave it an hour or two there is new technological inspiration as has just occurred so I could get it back step by step in that way. Never quite know where I am launching anything from with Windows 8. Sometimes I seem to be on Bing and sometimes Google. Sometimes I am at desktop and sometimes I am further on. Seems random to me. I can understand why the Windows system that is increasing in sales at a rate only second to 10 is extraordinarily second-hand XP even with no patches.
