Possibly the Bond connection is M?

(One of the early "talkies", so an articulate Lorre?)

        Oh, M is another clue....drat.
        Shoals/Soles of Herring?

        Not MacColl/Clancy.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, I'll stop now with this post....

First of all a huge WELL DONE to ferneyhoughgeliebte for getting it right! Although it was a different M!

Not connected with music, which perhaps make the quiz a little unfair. The avatar is a star of stage and screen, born László Löwenstein, contemporary of Kurt Weill, Lotte Lenya, most famous for appearing with Humphrey Bogart in the iconic Maltese Falcon and Casablanca movies but also utterly compelling (although, often portaying characters on the dark side) in other films such as M, and The Beast with Five Fingers and the more comedic detective series, Mr Moto.

The image is a digitally edited one from an original photograph that I own of Peter Lorre in the film Mad Love. That's the mad love we all have for music on this forum of course....

When a certain national newspaper were digitising their photo library they actually threw away hundreds of original photographs - from media agencies, professional photographers. These were retrieved from a skip and I now have about twenty - copyright still exists on them, so I'd need to obtain permission (which would presumably involve cost) to use them; unless anyone knows different? . Shame. I don't think anyone would object to the use of a section of one as an avatar!

Meanwhile back to the A-Z (sorry again for the hijack - hope the host is ok with this)...

So, basically, you are suggesting that we have Gogol, perhaps as in Bordello, for G.

Interesting - but I'm still for Gillett.

I am not sure I am likely to be hearing "Year of the Cat" in quite the same way now.

Less Monet style water colour impressionism but then that was retained for 39 years.

So, then, any more for R, S, T, U and V or have we exhausted those letters?

Now I'm fed up because I could have had the prize signed, sealed, delivered and on my breakfast table by now, Global. Knew it was the wonderful PL straight away but assumed the great one was common knowledge and there was something else going on. I'm going to go watch Maltese Falcon now you bring it to mind . Sounds like you have some fine images in there but hang on to Peter till after Day of the Dead, at least, will you! Suits you, sir!

Joe 90 - as regular readers will know, it was an early playing and it took an internet chat with Annie Nightingale to position it - she was great with me, very patient.

Just found this - one of my mates in the 1990s.

He was in a group of us who walked Cornwall.

And wos in De Hems obviously.

I helped with his toast. He said, sorry, but I still couldn't manage the band.

And we laughed a lot - hysterical on occasions.

I am amazed how he has been able to sustain "serious" for 25 or so minutes.
