But I suppose we can put Woody in here too...not the one from the Bay City Rollers, by the way.

A very good point. Your first two. Chris Wood - a true great not just now but he will be in historical terms. On the third, I believe they have reformed. Yes, I like your selections more than my previous one.

The answer on the card, incidentally, was Mallory Park:

Mallory Park is a motor racing circuit in the East Midlands of England and was among the venues used for Radio One “Fun Days” in the 1970s. A favourite story of John Peel was about attending such an event on May 18, 1975.[1] (from The Radio One Story) The finest event that I’ve ever been to with Radio One was a Radio One Fun Day at Mallory Park. The Mallory Park circuit has a large lagoon in the middle of it and a couple of small islands at one side, and the Bay City Rollers were billed to appea

Z might well be for Zimbabwe.

I've had the Bhundu Boys and the Four Brothers in my record collection since the late 1980s.

It would be of interest to me to hear which World Music albums other contributors bought first.

              Bhundu Boys - Simbimbino:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

              The Four Brothers - Rugare:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

This is the last call for W-Z. I will then post a list for addressing omissions and "sculpting down".

                    These are really excellent suggestions.

                    Very many thanks.

                    Ah yes, dear Zarah.

Kenny Everett used to play her "Wunderbar" a lot in the 1970s.

He claimed she was Adolf's favourite singer.

                    Thanks!

My approach has been to be all-inclusive rather than declaring "this is world music and this isn't world music". I am grateful for all contributions. That they have been so wide-ranging has meant that the thread has been educational as well as enjoyable. If I have inadvertently missed out any suggestions to date, please let me know. I will adjust the list.

I think the next call is for any further suggestions for A through to Z - well, B through to Z given the Albanians have priority seats - and this exercise need not have any rules as such. Except that I would especially invite thoughts on the letters which have the fewest names beside them or no names that you consider to be worthy of making it to the final shorter list. Oh, and the other "rule" is that I doubt we need to spend too many days on this bit of the process but I will be gauging it according to what is coming through or not!!

Thank you to Ferney for the pygmies who I have added. I have also decided to include Mark Coles in "C", Robin Denselow in "D", Real World Records in "R" and WOMAD in "W".

Thanks a lot Lat - great work. Just a couple of small points on first viewing from your wonderful gathering. Under P - Palm Wine Music (Have to have ole S.E. in there somewhere) - also when I said 'Woody' under W I was actually meaning Chris Wood but I think Woody G was a great pick-up by you.

Wondered if World Circuit should be there. Under A, I know you've got it as priority for 'Albanian', but I was listening to something rather excellent from the 'Analogue Africa' label the other day and thought it deserved a mention.

Thanks JC - and I realize now that you meant the great Chris Wood. I will include him plus Analogue Africa, Palm Wine Music and World Circuit. My feeling is that there is still some scope for additions to H, J, L, N, V and X. We have plenty enough to make for an excellent final 26 - but those letters may be among the less strong and possibly the less obvious.

This will not be a strong contender for H but it's one of my favourite hurdy-gurdies:

Oh, and then there is this too from the Smithsonian Folkways record label in 1976:

                              Henri Vasson - De Qu'tsa Vegnia Tsartsa - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFZxUmVEKHE
