Really liked all those clips, especially the Quebecois - spectacular voices - and the fantastic Missa Luba. I do like a choir if it is distinctive. On the latter, I was immediately struck by how a parallel of sorts could be drawn with Ariel Ramirez's Misa Criolla. That is, without question, one of my very favourite pieces of classical music from South America. I know I have posted the following link a couple of times but one thing I have never pointed out is the key role of Monty Don. You can't say that the fella isn't versatile. To muse a little longer, the dates of the two pieces are fascinating. The Ramirez work is from 1964 and the Missa Luba is very slightly later - 1965? - but I believe the voices for the latter were recorded in the late 1950s. It is a chicken or an egg or a neither. Anyway, smashing are both. And remember people...to be uniform doesn't mean it has to be penguin suit formal!

L for Lo - Cheikh and Ismael. I very much like both. The latter appears to be loathed by certain purists. I like almost all of what I have heard by him. Along with Angelique Kidjo's "Agolo" and Cheb Mami's "Ana Oualache" I consider this a "world pop masterpiece" in case anyone wondered if there could be such a thing. And, yes, I wonder too until I hear this!

In fact, let's go for M for Mami. What a voice! What a song!:

nb I find these tracks so uplifting - the latter more than the first - it soars above any regional political connotations and utterly blasts through them all. Sheer, slightly tearful, joy!
Digging out my old favourites here and you have seen them all before but I am going to pre-empt "T" again with "Tizita". It's an acquired taste but once bitten. Almost in raptures:

Tears and a lot of ecstatic smiles. And the performers notice not without disquiet 'cos I am generally at the front. Complete nutter basically.

Right then - it's time I think for N, O, P and any Qs we haven't had yet.
I note New Orleans, Nevilles etc.
N could also be Nueva Cancion:

If I can find any fault with it at all, there was no trumpet (not a big issue).
nb That might just be one of the best of this year - if it is from this year which I think it is!
O might be Orchestras - Barbes, Baobab etc:
