I've got a terrible feeling that the 'crop in the field' is going to end up as grits, one of the worst abominations a human can ever insult their palate with.
There are many different ways of preparing grits, all equally vile.
One of the worst involved moulding the slime into a block then frying it in oil which would be better used as an engine lubricant.

I'll now await the paeans of praise for this vile muck from YouTube....

When we have finished dealing with all of the mawkish sentimentality - in my case, on my deathbed - there will be time to vote for your favourites. Then Lateral will publish "The Grit Awards 2011" or "The Grits" as they are generally known. Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox are already standing by to take their places on ludicrously inappropriate podiums or are they podia? The prize for the winner is a statue depicting a "Deck of Cards" entitled "Leader of the Pack". Incidentally, no one has mentioned Boxcar Willie yet.

It's one of those odd names isn't it - "Iris DeMent". A bit like Scan Tester. Although his real name was 'Lewis' Tester...but you won't find him on Youtube more's the pity.

Emmy Lou Harris is, of course, an anagram of 'Hoarsely Mi Rum', a couple of words there which describe and influence the fine voice of old Pop Maynard.

Of course you won't find him on YouTube, nor anywhere on r3 in the near future, but he certainly disproves LambChop's statement that The Downfall of Country & Western Civilisation has arrived....
